3rd You must attend an Orientation Session where you will be given information about the life of a poll worker. You will be given a test and must score at least 80% in order to be considered to be a poll worker.
Clerk: The clerk is responsible for a variety of duties prior to Election Day. Some of those duties consist of contacting their assigned workers, picking up supplies, and checking out their polling place. The clerk is in charge of all workers on Election Day. Some Election Day duties consist of completing paperwork and helping voters who need to update their voting information.

Assistant
Clerk: Assists the clerk on Election Day and is willing and capable of taking over as clerk in cases of emergencies.
Inspector: The duties of the inspector include verifying the eligibility of the voter and the ability to process voters using the EViD (electronic voter identification). The inspector also has the job of issuing the correct ballot style to the voter.
Floor
Managers: The floor manager assists voters as needed casting their ballots into the Insight optical scan unit. They handle any minor problems that may arise with the voting machines.
Deputy: These workers are deputized by the Indian River County Sheriff. The deputy maintains law and order outside the polling place on Election Day and makes sure that the 100 foot solicitation area remains free of campaign signs, campaign workers, literature and candidates. They also help other members of the team to set up and tear down the election equipment before and after the polls open for voters.

addition to the election day pay which is listed above, poll workers will receive
pay for training workshops (except for Orientation) - you will not be paid
for attending an orientation.
All poll workers must be at their assigned polling place no later than 6:00 a.m. on election morning. Poll workers are not allowed to leave the polling place during election day and must be prepared to stay all day.
No. All poll workers are required by Florida
law to attend a minimum of 2-3 hours of
hands-on training in addition to an online poll worker training prior to each
election. If you do not own a computer, you may use the equipment at our office.Hours of required training depend on the position you
are assigned to work.Any poll worker not trained before an election is not
eligible to work.
At
the orientation session, you will be asked to complete a more in-depth poll worker
application. After you have completed the application, your name will be entered into
our active list of prospective poll workers.Prior
to each election, your clerk will call you with your work location and the position
you have been assigned.

Every year we send each poll worker an application that applies to that election cycle.
The application gives you the dates of the scheduled elections for that particular
year so you can mark your availability for each election.Should
you for some reason not be able to work, we ask that you notify the elections office
immediately.
