Voting By Mail Ballot

Who Can Vote an Mail Ballot?

If you are a qualified registered Indian River County voter, you are entitled to vote by mail ballot.

________________________________________________________________________

Requesting a Mail Ballot

A mail ballot may be requested for a specific election or for all elections in the current calendar year. The request can be made in person, by mail, by telephone or on-line. If you would like to request a mail ballot on line, click here. Only the voter or a designated member of his or her immediate family or legal guardian can request a mail ballot for the voter. Immediate family means the voter’s spouse or the parent, child, grandparent, or sibling of the voter or of the voter’s spouse or legal guardian.

A request made through any of the above methods from the voter must include the following information:

  • The name of the voter for whom the ballot is requested.
  • The voter’s address.
  • The voter’s date of birth.
  • The voter’s signature (written request only).

If the voter has designated an immediate family member or legal guardian to request a mail ballot for him or herself, that designee must provide the above information in addition to the following:

  • The requester’s name.
  • The requester’s address.
  • The requester’s driver’s license number if available.
  • The request’s relationship to the voter.
  • The requester’s signature (written request only).

Obtaining a Mail Ballot (Mail Ballots cannot be Forwarded by the Post Office)

Mail ballots are mailed approximately 30 days prior to each election to those voters who have requested a mail ballot. Mail ballots cannot be forwarded so it is important that the elections office is provided with a correct mailing address. If you are requesting a mail ballot for more than one election and will be in a different location for each election, make a separate request for each election with the correct mailing address. If your legal residence or mailing address changes, please contact the Supervisor of Elections office.

Early Voting

A qualified voter may vote in person at the office of the Supervisor of Elections or at any other designated early voting site beginning 15 days prior to an election. The voter must present both picture and signature identification. A Florida driver license or identification card will meet those requirements.
