Military and Overseas Voters Ballots Going Out

Indian River County, FL – Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan announced that 699 Mail Ballots were issued on September 23 to military and overseas voters for the General Election. By law, Supervisors of Elections must send vote-by-mail ballots to military and overseas voters no later than 45 days prior to each election. This special class of voters may receive their ballot by mail, email or fax, but they may only return their voted ballot by mail. The only exception is that overseas military and civilian voters may opt to return their ballot by fax.

Of the 699 Mail Ballots being delivered to our military and overseas voters, 326 were delivered to the USPS and 373 were emailed.

"Uniformed service members, their dependents and citizens residing outside the United States may use a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) as a convenient way to request a vote-by-mail ballot," stated Supervisor Swan. Voters may also request a mail ballot online at VoteIndianRiver.gov, or by calling 772-226-4700.

For the upcoming General Election, an overseas voter who is returning their ballot by mail must have the ballot postmarked or dated no later than November 8 and received by the Elections Office no later than 10 days after the election.

Voters can track the status of their ballot through the Supervisor of Elections website at VoteIndianRiver.gov, hover over "I Want To..." and click "Check the Status of My Vote-By-Mail Ballot".
