Voter Registration Deadline Approaching

Indian River County, FL – Indian River County’s August 23 Primary Election is fast approaching and Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan is reminding residents who need to register to vote or change their party affiliation the time to do so is now. The deadline to register to vote or change your party affiliation is July 25.

Florida is a closed-primary state; therefore, to select a party’s nominee voters need to be a registered member of that political party at least 29 days before the election. All registered voters may vote in school board and judicial races. Since all candidates for county commission districts 2 and 4 are of the same political party affiliation, and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election, all registered voters may vote in those races.

To register to vote or to confirm your party affiliation, go to VoteIndianRiver.gov, under the “I Want To…” drop down menu and click “Register to Vote”.

All voter registration applications and party changes received after July 25 will be processed for future elections.
